Make America Respectable Again
Let’s face it; it feels our great nation lost its place as the “leader of the free world” when Donald Trump was elected. Ever since he was sworn in as President, Donald Trump has ignored necessary customs, trampled on diplomacy, and abused his power, all in the last four years. His foreign policy had a singular mission — enrich his coffers. Instead of using the Presidency for society’s betterment, he used it to propagate lies and inflict widespread pain on the people in need.
The words on America’s statue of liberty with its glorious “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” Unfortunately, these words were ignored by the President Of The United States. Trump tried to impose his xenophobic Muslim Ban. Trump’s evil immigration policies closed down the borders and separated children from the parents seeking asylum. The attorney general claimed this as a “disincentive” for parents seeking to cross the border. As an act of absolute cruelty, these children were placed in cages, like dogs in a kennel. When inquired about this appalling behavior, Trump and his administration defended that these children are getting the best treatment, and the floors were so clean that they could eat off of them. America’s stature in the world as the “land of opportunity” has been replaced by a “land of brutality for the refugees and asylum seekers.” All these actions had the expected effect of impacting America’s moral superiority around the world.
Trump had the support of many people to enforce his corrupt schemes to amass wealth with illegal schemes and backroom deals. He used the State Department and DOJ to propagate lies against his political opponents. When some of them refused, he fired them from their positions. Donald Trump used his family as pawns to implement his illegal schemes. Saudi Prince, who is generally deferential to US diplomats and elected officials, boasted that Jared Kushner was “in his pocket.” Why would he think otherwise? Jared Kushner, President’s son-in-law, was explicitly negotiating on behalf of his father-in-law’s businesses and ignored the United States of America’s best interest. Trump makes many threats on the surface with China, but these threats do not lead to our nation’s positive results. He calls this “Art of the Deal,” but the real deals he makes are behind the scenes, through his corrupt business deals. According to Forbes’ Magazine — “The Chinese government granted a total of 41 trademarks to companies linked to Ivanka Trump by April of 2019 — and the trademarks she applied for after her father became president got approved about 40% faster than those she requested before Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 election, according to a new book by Forbes’ senior editor Dan Alexander.”
Biden’s America will reverse Trump’s evil immigration policies. Biden has committed to accepting refugees and asylum seekers — regardless of their religion, nationality, or ethnicity. Biden’s administration will lead the world again by replacing brutality with kindness. From Biden’s own words and the policies he laid out — Biden’s foreign policy will be centered around “breaking down barriers” instead of “building the wall.”
Trump’s behavior towards America’s friends like Germany, France, Canada, and the United Kingdom has caused a completely dysfunctional global ecosystem. He abandoned our long-standing relationships with democratic European Allies and coddled autocratic rulers like Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Turkey’s Erdogan, and North Korean Kim Jong-Un. Trump gave Kim Jong-Un a global stature by meeting without any pre-condition because of Kim Jong-Un’s false flattery. Trump’s narcissism and self-indulgence led our friends to abandon us. Worse, his selfish affliction to autocratic leaders led our enemies to take advantage of us.
The difference between Trump and Biden’s foreign policies could not be any starker. The following examples illustrate how a real leader (Biden) handles a crisis compared to a conman like Trump.
When Trump ignored China’s Hong Kong violations, Biden stood up and defended Hong Kong and chastised China.
When Trump took Russia’s side against his intelligence community when asked about Russia’s illegal involvement in the 2016 elections, Biden criticized Russa and proclaimed his full-throttled support to the American intelligence community.
When Trump coddled Kim Jong-Un because of his arrogance and naivete, Biden openly committed to America’s long-standing condition of denuclearization of North Korea.
America’s reputation throughout the world has been damaged in the last four years. Fortunately, this is not irreversible. Biden’s experience with diplomacy and his general disposition of “leading with compassion and kindness” is the only remedy to reverse our nation’s tarnished reputation. Biden has committed to joining the Paris accord for climate change. Biden also understands that we can achieve more with diplomacy than threats of escalation. Biden’s administration will hold Iran accountable by joining the world leaders on Iran’s denuclearization treaty. Biden’s foreign policy will enable friends and punish friends, unlike Donald Trump’s “punishing friends and coddling dictators” approach.
Let’s vote Trump out this election to Make America Respectable Again.
