Make America Truthful Again
On September 9, 2009, during a joint address to Congress by President Barack Obama which was nationally televised, Joe Wilson shouted “You lie!” Obama was outlining his proposal for reforming health care and said: “There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false — the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.” Obama and his administration defended their position by laying out facts, explaining the rationale behind the reform effort to prevent any doubt or prevarication to the American Public. Obama understood that his credibility cannot be taken for granted, he knew that he needed to be careful with his words and deliberate with his actions. It’s impossible to compare Obama’s meticulous rhetoric with that of Donald Trump’s record of shameless lying.
People think that “All Politicians Lie”, it’s not a big deal. But it is a huge deal because Trump sometimes utters multiple lies in a single sentence or tweet. According to the Washington Post, Trump is averaging more than 50 false or misleading claims per day.
Let’s look at the Politifact ratings for example — 72% of the statements that Donald Trump makes are rated Mostly False or worse. Obama’s record for this is 22%. As glaring and scary as this might sound, PolitiFact does not take into account Donald Trump’s tweets as he spews non-stop dishonesty on Twitter.
Unfortunately, the worst thing about Trump is not the number of lies he tells per day or the volume of his dishonest statements. The most dangerous thing about his dishonesty is about what he lies about. He lies about irrelevant things like the inauguration numbers, his hair, how much money he has, and other personal narcissistic narratives to stoke his own ego. One can argue that while this dishonesty is bad, it’s not harmful to the nation. I would counter the argument by reminding such defenders (enablers) of dishonesty that he is not some random guy saying (tweeting) random things, he is The President Of The United States. If we are expecting the citizens of the nation to treat him with respect, he needs to earn that respect. One of the ways to do this is is by talking (tweeting) in a respectful and responsible manner. His supporters will argue that such behavior is “Politically Correct” and Trump (and his cult-like followers) do not care for these norms. They see in Trump a norm shattering bully, who will “say it like it is” and “does not care about hurting anyone else.” As flawed as this argument is, this is the best defense they have — that the President just “speaks his mind”
Let’s delve into this mind a little and look at some of the most nefarious lies that Trump told over the years
On Coronavirus responses
Trump has been lying to the United States about the coronavirus for nine months. Majorities disagree with the overall story he’s telling about it: They don’t believe the worst is behind us and want more government action to address it, even supporting a national mask mandate.
On Social Justice and Black Lives Matter
President told a massive, insidious, White supremacist lie at the Republican National Convention that demands an answer from People of Color and all people of conscience. He said that he has done more for Black America than any President since Abraham Lincoln.

On Osama Bin Laden assasination
The theory, which has no basis in fact, specifically claimed Biden had members of SEAL Team 6 killed to cover up a purportedly failed assassination of Osama bin Laden in 2011. Trump retweeted a post spreading the theory, therefore amplifying the message to his 87 million followers.

These are just three of the 20,000 lies that President Trump has uttered over the last four years. This level of dishonesty has consequences, especially when people are dying and losing their homes and jobs. If President Trump expects us to trust his message to the American people, he needs to take his words (and tweets) seriously.
Trump is an incorrigible liar and he cannot be fixed, even if he tried. I am sure his patriotic cabinet members like Jim Mattis, John Kelley, and others have tried to change his personality, and ultimately gave up. If four-star generals that commanded our armed forces cannot change Trump, there is no force in the Universe that is capable of fixing his unwavering commitment to mendacity.
We can’t fix Trump, but we can save our nation from his lies. Biden offers a different vision for the country. Biden’s vision is based on facts, science, and most importantly compassion.
Here is how Biden’s pragmatic, deliberate and diplomatic presidency will differ from Trump’s chaotic, random, and crass administration.
Instead of spreading wild propaganda by the extremist groups, Biden will focus on facts, science, and truth.
Instead of jumping on News channels and listening to whatever garbage sycophants like Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Lou Dobbs feeds him, Biden will listen to his National Security and Intelligence teams.
Instead of spreading rumors, conspiracy theories, and lies to please his base and divide the nation, Biden will unite the nation by spreading the truth, facts, supported by the rationale for his actions.
